How to Crochet Beginners Hexagon Cardigan + Tutorial

Sharing is caring!

Crochet Hexi Cardigans are strongly trending in style for 2023 and 2024. Sized XL to 5 XL. It's the strategic folding of a hexagon.

The hexagon isn't a flat version of a hexagon. You will notice it will ruffle and see this happening in the extensive beginner instructions. The ruffling is intentional to create the spaces you will need to form this sweater.

This is part of the new BERNAT MAKE THIS program.

The sweater consists of two identical hexagons that are joined at the back. Sleeves are added to it and a few rows at the bottom of the cardigan.

I crocheted a sweater earlier in 2023. It's the Men's Sweater Weather Pullover. It was easy to crochet and put together. My version of double-stranding made for a very heavy sweater.

Love love love! Working on one now! Such a great tutorial, I just have one question. How much yarn did you use all together (in yards please)

    Thank you!

      Pattern stated the following: Bernat® Super Value™, (7 oz/197 g; 440 yds/402 m)
      XS / Small used 4 balls. 4 x 440 yds = 1760 yds
      M/L used 4 balls = 1760 yds
      XL, 2 XL and 3 XL used 5 balls. 5 x 440 yds = 2200 yds
      4 and 5 XL used 6 balls. 6 x 440 yds = 2640 yds.

You didn't state the size you are working on so I did all available sizes in the pattern.

The PDF can be found by clicking the black button that says “view pattern” it is right before the embedded video.

The PDF is also linked to the blue lettering of the name of the pattern.

      Happy Stitching
